Whirlpool cabrio washer lid lock override.
If it still won t budge proceed to plan b.
There should be an object on the edge of the lid and a hole on the edge of the opening.
If the lid will not lock and keeps clicking on your whirlpool cabrio washer it is probably a faulty lock switch assembly.
If it opens you re all set.
Place a magnet between the two so there is a magnetic connection between the lid lock and the solenoid inside the washer.
At that point the lid light makes a clicking noise.
This switch is connected to a solenoid that completes a circuit allowing the machine to run only if the top is.
The lid lock mechanisms on some washers are heat activated which means overriding them is as simple as letting them cool off.
You will need to take a look at the lid lock assembly and see if there is a visible issue with it possible electrical issue or possibly something else may be causing the issue.
Under operation start with the new switch in the off position then start the machine wash cycle as you would normally do wait a couple of seconds and then hit new switch so that it is in the on position.
When you close the lid the object goes into the hole and presses a lever or button.
Let the washer sit unplugged for about 10 minutes then try lifting the lid.
Look for the lid lock switch on the underside of the top panel and where it fits into the appliance.
Next open the lid and insert a screwdriver into the lid switch actuator hole.
This is one of the most common problems with direct drive washing machines.
Connect the blue and white wires start a load and wait until the lid lock red light comes on.
Then connect the lid lock open wire to the off pole of the switch and the lid lock closed wire to the on pole of the switch.
Then connect the red wire to the blue and white wires and wash cycle should begin.
If you leave the lid.
Most washing machines come equipped with a lid switch.
Step 4 put the lid back down and plug the washing machine back into the electrical outlet.
